Innovation Attitude

Since its creation in 2000, NEOTION has always invested in R&D (more than 30M € combined) and has always pursued a sustained innovation, particularly around patents (35 to date).

After Being the first company which have launched the first MPEG4-MPEG2 transcoding CAM, the first Multimedia bouquet for PC Delivered by Satellite, the first Time Shifter CAM and the First GSM & NFC CAMs last year, NEOTION presents in 2012 "Blue Bridge®", the connecting solution for TVs to Smartphones and Tablets.

R&D Policy supports the NEOTION strategy of development and is centered around four main themes:

Connected TV for Broadcasters:

The TV are more and more connected to the Internet and integrates into platforms of services; this is around these two major know-how –Security and CAM- that NEOTION develops solutions which integrates new features. NEOTION was the first company to demonstrate the first IP CAM solutions for the broadcasters that enabled CI Plus TVs to connect to the Internet and to manage a VOD service. These innovations are now offering commercial opportunities with its Advanced CAM for many Cable Operators.

NEOTION invests in the integration of its products in the HbbTV platforms and others distant remote browsing solutions and continues to invest for its partner operators which will deploy increasingly connected services.

Wireless communication

NEOTION launched itself in an innovation and development program around the TV wireless communication. We already know that severals TVs don’t connect to the Internet or will not be able to. NEOTION develops a new solution - Blue Bridge® - which links the TV to smartphones and tablets thanks to a wireless communication. After having presented in 2011 solutions based on NFC, NEOTION integrates today the Bluetooth Technology and opens the way to the Wi-Fi. This stage is important and offers yet severals opportunities. The TV is connecting to the internet via mobile phones; the internet access solution is thus based on the mobile phone.

Telco Operators

NEOTION is working with the biggest European Telco Operators and is developing with them “ Proof of Concept” that demonstrates how the services operated by Telco Operators can be deployed on CI Plus iDTV. Those demonstrators shows perfectly the investment NEOTION is leading in the next versions of the CI Plus 1.3 and also in programs such as those supported by OIPF.

NEOTION has also introduced a product solution – GSM CAM – enabling TVs to connect to mobile phone allowing transactions. It is possible to delegate the Pay TV access management or the services to the mobile phone which can perfectly handle the payment, the Pay Per view access or the services, and manage the access rights. Those developments fit perfectly in the deployment politics of NEOTION on specific markets: smartphones and mobile devices will soon be, everywhere in the world, the first way to access the Internet. In many countries, the access to Pay TV is not based on the subscription but on the Pay per View. The solutions that combined both TV set and mobile phone are the perfect answers to those needs.

Services

Televisions are now opened on new services that relies on NEOTION connected solutions. All new NEOTION products and innovations are oriented for the development of new services for partners and allow also the development of interactive TV applications or combine the simultaneous use of TV and smartphones or tablets.

NEOTION has close ties with its partners and provides complete solutions that combine Technological Products and Services. To do this, NEOTION relies on its security expertise and expert teams but also on its ability to develop solutions that combine HardWare products (or CAM, USB dongle, chip), managing security, but also services development and their integration for the operators.
